Despite taking the early lead in the second match between the two teams, the Cement Lady Bulldogs fell 3-2 (25-11, 23-25, 24-26, 27-25, 9-15) to the Duncan Lady Demons in Duncan on Tuesday.
In a battle of two top teams, Cement took a 1-0 lead to begin the match.
In set one, Cement's Ally McDaniel helped her team take the 5-1 lead early in the set. Duncan got within two points before Cement took advantage of some miscues to get the victory in the first set.
In the second set, the Lady Demons came back and held on for the win. The Lady Bulldogs had a 12-5 lead in the set.
Becky Robinson's serving helped the Lady Bulldogs.
But the Lady Demons went on a scoring run to take their first lead since going up 4-3 in the set, and both teams traded points before Duncan got the benefit of a Cement error and a hit out of bounds to give the Lady Demons the second set.
Extra points were needed in the third set, but it was Duncan that got the 26-24 victory to give the Lady Demons the 2-1 lead. Duncan led 20-14 before Cement mounted a comeback.
Skyler Saunier got Cement within four points, and an ace from Breeanna Nix and two kills from McDaniel tied the game at 24 points apiece before Duncan's Emily Sutherland got two big kills.
Needing a win to avoid the match loss, Cement was able to force a fifth set. The Lady Bulldogs stormed back from a deficit to win the fourth and force a fifth set.
With a kill, McDaniel got the Lady Bulldogs to within three points before another Duncan run got the lead back to five. Cement took over with a kill tying the set at 21 points apiece.
McDaniel and company got the final two kills to secure the victory.
Hoping to make the comeback, errors kept Cement out of the fifth set. The Lady Bulldogs only had one lead throughout the set, and Duncan took over to secure the victory over Cement.
The Lady Bulldogs will next be at home facing off against Temple on Tuesday.
