The Sooner Athletic Conference has released pools for the upcoming conference softball tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to begin Thursday, and one of the two four-team pools will be played at Bill Smith Ballpark in Chickasha. The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma is scheduled to begin play at 1 p.m. against Southwestern Christian University.
Texas Wesleyan University and Southwestern Assemblies of God University are the two other teams in USAO’s pool.
USAO was able to earn the top seed in the conference tournament after capturing the regular-season SAC title with a 36-0 conference record. The Drovers enter tournament play with an overall record of 49-0.
With a 49-0 record, USAO owns multiple records. The Drovers have the record for longest win streak across multiple seasons in the NAIA at 56 and the longest win streak in one season at 49, according to the NAIA. USAO was also able to break the NCAA record for the longest win streak.
The Drovers advanced to the championship of the conference tournament last season. The loss to Oklahoma City University in the championship game is the last time USAO lost a game. The Drovers won the final seven games of that season to win the national title.
The tournament championship is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Saturday at OCU.
