The Sooner Athletic Conference recently announced honors in baseball and softball.
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma raked in honors, including a sweep of Coach of the Year.
USAO head coach Jadyn Wallis was named Coach of the Year by the conference. Wallis’ squad started the season 52-0 and went 36-0 in SAC play. Following a national title in 2018, the Drovers won the SAC regular-season title and held a record-breaking 59-game winning streak.
Wallis was named Coach of the Year for the third season in a row.
Sophomore pitcher Emily Cerny can add another honor to her list. She was named SAC Pitcher of the Year for the second season in a row. Kristen Prieto was named the Newcomer of the Year in the conference.
USAO ended up with eight players named to the All-SAC first team. Cerny, Prieto, Darci Chester, Dakota Clouse, Destinie Lookout, Randa Hatter, Karmyn Pearn and Karlie Velasco all received that honor.
Tarah Madron and Lyndie Ervin each received second-team honors.
USAO head coach Mike Ross was named Coach of the Year for the second season in a row. Under Ross, the Drovers managed to win the SAC regular-season title and conference tournament title.
Colton Williams was named Pitcher of the Year in the conference, and P.J. Garcia received Gold Glove honors.
The Drovers ended up with six players being named first-team All-SAC. Williams, Garcia, Matt Merrill, Alex Sanchez, Miguel Lorenzo and Luis Pelayo received that honor.
Coleton Horner, Ian Laureano, Rudy Gonzalez and Jean Muntaner were named to the second team.
