Coaches in the Sooner Athletic Conference think highly of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men's basketball team.
In a recent preseason poll released by the SAC, coaches from around the SAC predicted the Drovers to finish second in the conference. Wayland Baptist University was the only school predicted to finish ahead of the Drovers.
USAO received 77 points in the poll, 22 points behind WBU and one point ahead of third-place Mid-America Christian University. The Drovers received two second-place votes, four third-place votes, three fourth-place votes and one fifth-place vote.
The Drovers are coming off of a run to the national quarterfinals last season. As a No. 7 seed in the Division I national tournament, USAO defeated two higher seeds to advance to the quarterfinals. USAO took down The Master's University and Wiley College in its postseason run.
The Drovers finished last season with a 22-11 record. They are looking to make a trip to the national tournament for the fourth season in a row.
