The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma baseball team picked up a series sweep at home.
The Drovers were able to play their first home series of the season at Bill Smith Ballpark in Chickasha on Saturday and Sunday. The Drovers swept their four games against the University of St. Mary to get to 6-1 on the season.
The third-ranked Drovers won two of the four games by double-digit runs and won all four games by at least seven runs. USAO scored double-digit runs in three of the four games and outscored its opponent 54-11 during the series.
The Drovers picked up wins of 13-0 and 8-1 in Saturday’s games and won by scores of 17-2 and 16-8 in Sunday’s games. The Drovers have won their last four games to get to 6-1 and will host Friends University on Friday.
Softball opens season in Texas
The second-ranked softball team played six games in Corpus Christi, Texas, last week. The Drovers played their first six games of the season and came away with a 4-2 record.
USAO's two losses came to No. 16 Columbia College and the University of Houston-Victoria, ranked No. 23. USAO lost those games by scores of 4-2 and 7-2. The Drovers picked up wins over Doane University (4-3), Jarvis Christian College (8-0), York College (10-5) and Our Lady of the Lake University (6-3).
USAO will face No. 3 Oklahoma City University next Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
