While the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma softball team has put together a lengthy streak of wins, so has the USAO baseball team.
The eighth-ranked Drovers have won 16 games in a row following a sweep of No. 14 Texas Wesleyan University last week in Fort Worth, Texas. With the three wins, USAO moved to 37-10 on the season and currently sits at the top of the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 21-3 conference record.
The Drovers outscored the Rams 22-4 over the course of the three games. They opened the series with a 6-2 victory Friday. Saturday, the Drovers won two games by scores of 6-1 and 10-1.
During USAO's streak, the Drovers have scored 146 runs on offense, good for an average of 9.1 runs per game over that stretch. USAO has scored at least 10 runs in nine of their 16 wins in a row.
But it has not just been the offense stepping up. USAO's opponents have only been able to score a combined 28 runs over that stretch and have averaged less than two runs per game against the Drovers during the streak.
In 10 of the 16 games, USAO held its opponents to one run or less. The stretch of games includes five shutout victories.
The Drovers still have a conference series remaining. USAO is scheduled to face Southwestern Christian University this week in its final SAC series of the regular season.
