Chickasha forward Sam Gerdts fights to reach the end line around a Northwest Classen defender during Tuesday night's game at Hampton Field.

Northwest Classen scored two goals either side of halftime in a 4-0 win against Chickasha on Tuesday.

The Fightin’ Chicks fell to a second defeat in as many games in the loss. They grew into the contest as the night went on but only created a few good chances in front of goal.

Classen looked lethal in attack, combining in the final third on several occasions to keep Chickasha on the defensive for most of the night.

The Knights hit down the left to start the game, and it bore fruit for them. Just five minutes after the start, Julian Gaytan floated a high cross to the back post where Elvin Mazariegos applied a powerful header into the bottom right corner for a 1-0 lead.

Another cross from the left nearly led to a second. Alesandro Garcia found the ball at his feet in the box before pushing his shot wide.

The Knights eventually got their second, this time with an attack down the right. Brandon Verdoza sent an early cross low into the near post where Elmer Cruz got in front of his defender to poke the ball home.

Classen made it three goals with Aldo Gonzalez’s free-kick, which was blasted from the right of goal inside the near post. Naomi Soto scored the fourth goal off of a rebound from another long free kick.

Chickasha goalkeeper Chase Novotny got across to block the ball with his body, but Soto was quickest to the rebound.

Chickasha came out of halftime with their tails up, creating a few chances early. Jose Solano was teed up at the top of the box and saw his shot go wide.

The best chance came after Classen had built up its lead. Solano was again involved, this time dribbling into the box to pull the defense inside.

He dished to Grady McKnight wide open on the left, but the eventual shot from seven yards out hit the outside of the near post.
