The football season is drawing near, and the Chickasha Fightin' Chicks are scheduled to begin their regular season Sept. 6.

The Fightin' Chicks will be looking to improve on their 4-6 record from last season. Two of those wins came in district play.

Chickasha's three non-district opponents remain the same as last season. Two of those three teams made the playoffs in 2018, giving Chickasha six playoff opponents from a season ago.

Chickasha will open the season against Marlow for the second year in a row. The two programs resumed playing each other last season, and Chickasha snapped its losing streak with a 35-24 victory over the Outlaws.

Chickasha will travel to Marlow this season.

Marlow went 5-6 last season, finishing fourth in District 3A-2 and falling to Heritage Hall in the first round of the playoffs.

Chickasha will then face Harrah at home Sept. 13. Chickasha opened the season 2-0 after a 27-7 victory over the Panthers. Harrah went 0-10 in 2018.

Chickasha closes non-district play on the road against the El Reno Indians in a rivalry matchup Sept 20. Chickasha has lost two games in a row to the Indians, including a 53-26 loss last season.

El Reno went 6-5 last season, finishing fourth in District 5A-1 and falling in the first round of the playoffs.

In District 4A-1 play, Chickasha will host three of last season's playoff teams from the district.

The Chicks will host Cache (Oct. 4), Weatherford (Oct. 17) and Clinton (Nov. 1). Clinton won the district in 2018, while Cache and Weatherford took second and third in the district.

Chickasha will travel to face Elk City (Sept. 27), Newcastle (Oct. 11), Elgin (Oct. 25) and Anadarko (Nov. 8).

Anadarko was the fourth playoff team from the district. The Warriors finished the season with a record of 6-5.

Chickasha's two district wins last season came against Elk City and Elgin. Elk City, Elgin and Newcastle were all below .500 in 2018.
