Representatives from Offense-Defense Football Camp, nationally known as the best full-contact youth football camp, will hold their 2007 Oklahoma City area camp from June 3-7 at Owen Field on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

Established in 1969 and currently in 37 cities, Offense-Defense Football Camp is the oldest and largest full-contact football camp in the United States and guides athletes from seven to 18 years-of-age through five-day camp sessions to improve their football fundamentals and techniques with additional specialty clinics for all positions.

The camps are led by well-known NFL players and coaches, as well as college coaches.

By utilizing the skills and instructional abilities of the players and coaches who teach at each session, Offense-Defense Football Camp guarantees improvement by each athlete after the five-day sessions.

More than 300 NFL players are alumni of Offense-Defense Football Camps, including Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons, Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals and Ronnie Lott and Steve Young, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers.

In addition, 28 of the current 32 NFL coaches have participated in past Offense-Defense Football Camps to train promising young athletes. The Offense-Defense Football Camp has been recognized as the “Official Football Camp” of the NFL Coaches Association.

Due to the growing popularity of the instructional clinics, Offense-Defense Football Camp was recently named the “Best Sports Camp for Football” in the March issue of Sports Illustrated Kids. The popular sports magazine for junior athletes said that “…campers eat, drink and sleep football. Offense-Defense is a great training ground for kids who are serious about playing football.”

“We are very excited about the continued growth of the Offense-Defense Camps and are eager to bring our exceptional football program to promising young athletes all over the country for another great summer season,” said Rick Whittier, president of Offense-Defense Sports, which owns and operates Offense-Defense Football Camp. “To be ranked as the best football camp in the country by Sports Illustrated Kids is a tribute to the caliber of our program, as well as the unfailing support of the NFL athletes and all the coaches who come to our camps every year.”

Offense-Defense Football Camp divides athletes into groups based on age, height, weight and skill sets to focus on offense and defense fundamentals.

At the end of each camp session, athletes are placed into groups to compete in the Offense-Defense Bowl to show what they have learned.

Qualified athletes have the opportunity to be invited to Offense-Defense Select and Elite Camps for further training. Approximately 80 Offense-Defense All-Americans are selected from the Elite Camps each year to be showcased in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl, held in January and broadcast on ESPNU.
