The Minco basketball teams picked up wins at the Bulldog Classic on Thursday at Minco High School.

The Lady Bulldogs outlasted Cordell in triple overtime, picking up a 56-47 victory. The Minco boys pulled away from Central High in the second quarter en route to a 77-47 victory.


Minco outscored Cordell 10-1 in the third overtime, led by Emme Douglas. Douglas got the Lady Bulldogs on the board in the overtime period and scored the team’s first five points. She finished with 20 points in the win.

Minco scored all 10 of its points before Cordell scored its only point on a free throw.

Minco had to survive a Cordell rally after the Lady Blue Devils came back from a 10-point deficit. The Lady Bulldogs first went up by double digits in the third quarter. They took a 22-12 lead after a pair of free throws from Cassidy Franklin.

Minco held a 28-18 advantage in the quarter before Cordell was able to make its way back. Cordell scored seven straight points to end the quarter before hitting a 3-pointer in the fourth to tie the game at 28.

Cordell’s 10-0 run came to an end with a field goal from Malya Vazquez.

Minco had three players finish in double figures. After Douglas’ 20 points, Franklin scored 16. Vazquez ended up with 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

With the win, Minco was able to avenge its loss to Cordell in its season opener.


After leading by just four after the first quarter, the Bulldogs got a spark from Max Morrison in the second to help them pull away for the 30-point win over Central High.

Morrison scored five straight points during an 11-0 run that ended with Minco going up by 12 at 27-15. Morrison scored seven of his 14 points in the second quarter. All seven of those points came during Minco’s scoring run.

The Bulldogs went to halftime with a commanding 40-21 lead over the Bronchos.

Minco was able to show its balance in the 30-point victory. Four players ended the game with at least 10 points. 

Dayken Rackley led the way with his 19 points, while Cooper Shirley finished with 16. Morrison added his 14, and Dane Brummell ended the game with 11 points.
