The Blanchard softball team is in a good spot in a crowded District 4A-2.
Blanchard handed Lone Grove its first district loss Monday, picking up a 4-2 win in Blanchard to get to 4-1 in district play.
Three teams in the district had one district loss after Monday. Blanchard became one of two teams with one district loss after Tuesday's action.
The Lady Lions moved to 5-1 in the district Tuesday with a 2-0 win over the Plainview Lady Indians.
Blanchard and Lone Grove were tied 0-0 until the bottom of the second inning. Lone Grove threatened to score in the top of the second, but a double play got Blanchard out of the jam.
Three of the Lady Lions’ four runs came in the second inning. Callie Hacker and Talise Jones hit back-to-back singles to put runners on first base and third base with no outs.
A Lone Grove error gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead.
With a second run added to the scoreboard in the second, Stormy Haynes delivered a run-scoring hit to give the Lady Lions a 3-0 lead.
The Lady Horns scored both of their runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Lions managed to add an insurance run in the sixth inning.
Jones led off the sixth inning for the Lady Lions and managed to get on base. She got on base twice in the game to help Blanchard’s offense. The Lady Lions were able to put one run on the board with two outs in the inning.
Avery Schneringer went the first five innings for the Lady Lions to earn the win. Makenzie Gray went the final two innings in the circle, allowing just one Lone Grove player to reach base in those two innings.
