The Chickasha Lady Chicks were able to add another win to their total.

The Lady Chicks put together a strong defensive performance and got double-digit scoring efforts from Chloee Steelman and Leighanne Eaton in a 40-35 victory over the Elgin Lady Owls on Friday at Chickasha High School. Chickasha moved to 3-2 on the season with the victory.

Steelman (13) and Eaton (10) combined to score 23 of Chickasha’s 40 points in the win.

Elgin scored 12 of its 35 points in the first quarter and then scored 13 points total the next two quarters. The Lady Chicks held the Lady Owls to just 13 points in the second half.

Chickasha took a quick 4-0 lead in the game, and Eaton got the scoring started for the Lady Chicks. Elgin ended up holding a 12-10 lead after a back-and-forth first quarter.

Elgin took a 17-12 lead in the second quarter, and that was when things started to turn in favor of the Lady Chicks. Chickasha outscored Elgin 9-5 the rest of the quarter and went to the second half only down by one point.

Steelman scored two of her 13 points early in the second half to give the Lady Chicks a 23-22 lead. Steelman and Lexi Albright combined for a 6-0 run to start the half, giving Chickasha a 27-22 advantage. The Lady Chicks never trailed again after taking the lead.

Chickasha held Elgin to just three points in the third quarter and took a 32-25 lead to the final quarter of the game.

Chickasha continued to add to its lead in the fourth quarter and even went up by 10 points over its opponent. An Albright basket gave the Lady Chicks a 38-28 advantage over their opponent.

Chickasha was able to hold off the Lady Owls to pick up the victory. Chickasha will play Kingfisher on Tuesday at Kingfisher.
