Chickasha's Emry Josey pitches in a game from earlier this season at Chickasha's Elkouri Field.

The Chickasha softball team recently put together a successful run in tournament play.

The Lady Chicks competed in a tournament hosted by Perry High School. The tournament lasted Thursday through Saturday.

Chickasha lost just one time en route to a third-place finish at the tournament, winning its final five games. Chickasha finished the tournament with a 5-1 record to move to 9-2 on the season before the team's scheduled district game Monday against Plainview.

The Lady Chicks defeated Morrison 4-3 in extra innings Saturday in the third-place game. Before the game against Morrison, Chickasha lost to Perry (4-3) but defeated Blackwell (6-3), Tecumseh (9-0), Ponca City (8-0) and Fletcher (4-1).

Both of Chickasha’s losses this season have been by one run.

Before the loss to Perry, Chickasha had not lost a game since a 7-6 defeat to the Cyril Lady Pirates in the season opener. The Lady Chicks had won four games in a row entering the tournament.

According to the Chickasha coaching staff, Allyson Arthur and Lexi McElroy led the Chickasha offense with multiple hits in the 4-3 victory over Morrison.

Per the staff, Emry Josey threw five of the eight innings in the circle to earn the victory for the Lady Chicks.
