The Bridge Creek Lady Bobcats finished the regular season on a high note.
The Lady Bobcats and Chickasha Lady Chicks finished their regular seasons in Chickasha on Monday, and the Lady Bobcats managed to pick up a 48-24 victory. Entering the Class 4A postseason, Bridge Creek has won five of its last six games.
Despite the 24-point margin, Chickasha only trailed by three after the first quarter and seven at halftime. Bridge Creek's trio of Lainey Morrow, Summer Fergerson and Hannah Badon proved to be too much, combining for 46 of the team's 48 points in the win.
Chloee Steelman gave the Lady Chicks an early 2-0 lead and scored all six of Chickasha's points in the first quarter, as well as all six of her points in the game. Bridge Creek went to the second quarter with a 9-6 advantage and managed to extend its lead in the period.
The Lady Bobcats scored seven of the first nine points in the second quarter, and Morrow gave the Lady Bobcats a 16-8 lead with one of her baskets.
But Chickasha continued to hang around in the second quarter and cut its deficit to three after a Leighanne Eaton 3-pointer. Eaton's triple made the score 18-15 in favor of Bridge Creek.
Eaton led the Lady Chicks in scoring, finishing with eight points in the loss.
But the Lady Bobcats responded and ended up carrying a 23-16 advantage to the second half. Bridge Creek scored 25 points in the second half, 21 of which came from Morrow and Fergerson.
Fourteen of Fergerson's 17 points came in the second half, and Morrow scored seven of her 18 points in the final two quarters of play.
Fergerson opened the scoring in the third quarter by hitting the second of her four triples in the game, pushing Bridge Creek's lead to 10 points. The Lady Bobcats scored the first nine points of the second half to go up by 16 over the Lady Chicks.
Chickasha's scoreless stretch eventually came to an end, but Bridge Creek still led by 18 after three quarters before eventually winning by 24.
Along with Morrow and Fergerson, Badon also scored in double figures for the Lady Bobcats. She had 11 points in the win.
Chickasha will begin its postseason journey at Anadarko on Saturday. The Lady Chicks will play the Anadarko Lady Warriors at 6:30 p.m.
Bridge Creek will be at Checotah on Friday, beginning play at 6:30 p.m.
