Two area foes met Thursday at Chickasha’s Elkouri Field.
Chickasha and Bridge Creek were looking to pick up a win in District 4A-2. After trailing 7-0 heading to the fourth and 7-2 heading to the sixth, Bridge Creek scored six runs in the sixth inning to take the lead.
That lead held, and the Bridge Creek Lady Bobcats picked up their first district win of the season with an 8-7 victory over the Lady Chicks. Bridge Creek moved to 1-2 in district play, and the Lady Chicks fell to 3-1 in the district.
The Lady Bobcats took the lead soon after a grand slam cut their deficit to one. Lainey Morrow delivered a single that plated the tying run and game-winning run.
Chickasha got off to a strong start, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Rylie Weber’s base hit scored Alli Bordwine to put the Lady Chicks ahead 1-0.
Allison Couch plated the final two runs of the first inning.
With Chickasha up 5-0 in the third, Leighanne Eaton’s single scored Chickasha’s final two runs of the game.
Bridge Creek's win snapped Chickasha's win streak. Chickasha had won six games in a row before the loss.
