Chickasha’s freshmen hosted El Reno Monday and came away with another split. The girls lost their third straight game 36-26 and the boys won their second straight 56-49.
Too many turnovers and not enough rebounding did the Lady Chicks in. Up 15-11 at half-time, El Reno turned the pressure up in the third quarter to extend to 30-17. Chickasha played with more fire in the fourth to close but couldn’t get any closer than eight points. Lauren White led with eight points, Kylie Williams and Dana Rose each had five and Dawn’Shaye Blakes and Mary Allen added four each.
Haley Hill (12) led the Indians with twelve points.
El Reno got “davised” in the nightcap. Jacobi Davis had a game-high 13 point, 14 rebound double-double and Olajawon Davis had a 12 point, 13 rebound double-dub to lead the Chicks to the win.
Al Wolf added another twelve points with two key threes and point guard Austin McRay dumped in nine and quarterbacked the spread in the final minutes to lock the game away.
The game was fast-paced and close all the way, with Chickasha nursing a four-point 21-17 halftime lead into a 36-30 lead after three and then holding off a furious El Reno rally to win the fourth 20-19.
The Chicks finished it on the line as three Indian players fouled out in the final minutes, canning 12 of 17 to ice it.
Zack Hazelbaker (15) and Connor Hayden (23) had eleven each for El Reno.
Thursday night the teams travel to Carl Albert then they’ll be back home Monday with Shawnee.
