Chickasha players indicate they have the football during the team's 48-14 win at Elk City last week.

With another week of the football season here, most of the area teams have opened district play and will continue district play this week.

Teams like Alex and Cyril each have one more game outside of district play, and Rush Springs is scheduled to play its district opener this week. Seven of the nine area teams are at .500 or better in terms of overall record.

Chickasha vs. Cache

The Fightin’ Chicks bounced back from a loss to El Reno in a big way in their district opener. Cayss Lowery scored six touchdowns, and Chickasha picked up a 48-14 win over Elk City in its district opener.

Chickasha moved to 3-1 on the season with the victory and is currently 1-0 in District 4A-1 this season. The Fightin’ Chicks are scheduled to host the Cache Bulldogs on Friday.

Chickasha enters the game averaging a little more than 33 points per game, having scored more than 40 points twice this season. Chickasha is allowing just over 15 points per game and has come up big in the turnover aspect of the game on the defensive side of the ball.

Cache is 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in district play after a dominant win over Anadarko last week.

The Fightin’ Chicks and Bulldogs have one common opponent so far this season, having played the Marlow Outlaws. Chickasha defeated Marlow, and Cache lost to Marlow.

Cache has a win streak over Chickasha.

Dibble vs. Rush Springs

The Dibble Demons and Rush Springs Redskins will meet Friday in a District A-4 matchup between area teams.

Dibble enters the game with a record of 4-1 on the season, and they are 1-0 in A-4 following a 29-23 win over Elmore City-Pernell last week. Dibble’s only loss came to Minco in a 14-6 defeat.

The Redskins’ only loss this season is also to Minco. They fell 32-7 last week after starting the season 3-0. Rush Springs has put together two shutout victories this season.

Dibble is looking to keep its win streak on the season and win streak over Rush Springs alive. Last season’s win helped the Demons advance to the postseason.

Minco vs. Watonga

The Minco Bulldogs are looking to move to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in District A-3. They host Watonga on Friday.

Minco is coming off of a 32-7 win over Rush Springs and is the only team to score more than seven points against the Redskins. The Bulldogs are off to a 2-0 start in district play with wins over Crossings Christian and Oklahoma Christian Academy.

After scoring 53 points in their first three games of the season, the Bulldogs have totaled 88 in their last two games.

Watonga enters the game with a record of 3-1 on the season and a 1-1 record in district play. Watonga was 2-0 until a 19-18 loss to Crossings Christian. Minco defeated Crossings Christian 14-6.

Minco defeated Watonga 34-8 last season.

Other games

Tuttle goes to Madill on Friday with an 18-game win streak. Tuttle is 4-0 and 1-0 in District 4A-2. At 1-3 on the season and 0-1 in 4A-2, Blanchard is at McLoud on Friday.

In Class 3A, Bridge Creek hosts Mount St. Mary on Friday. Bridge Creek is 1-3 on the season and 0-3 in District 3A-1. 

In Class B, the Alex Longhorns are at Empire on Friday with a record of 2-2. The 3-1 Cyril Pirates are at Central High.
