Two area football teams are scheduled to compete for district titles Friday.
The Alex Longhorns and Minco Bulldogs are both undefeated in their respective districts and will face quality opponents for the top spots in those districts before heading to the playoffs later this month.
Alex is scheduled to host the Burns Flat-Dill City Eagles on Friday. Both teams will host first-round playoff games, but the winner can claim the District B-3 title.
Both teams enter the game on win streaks. The two teams have each won six games in a row.
The Longhorns are 7-2 on the season and 4-0 in district play. The Eagles are 8-1 on the season and also 4-0 in district play.
Alex has put together dominant results in all seven of its victories this season, winning by at least 46 points in each of those games. Outside of a 50-46 win over Laverne, BF-DC has won seven of its eight games by at least 44 points.
The District A-3 champion will be crowned Friday when Minco goes on the road to face Cashion in a battle of unbeaten teams. The matchup was one that was circled before the season as a game that could have playoff implications, and that has come to fruition.
Minco is 9-0 on the season and has won its last six games by double digits. The Bulldogs have scored more than 30 points in each of the last six games.
Cashion is 8-0 on the season and has won every game this season by double digits.
Both teams have clinched first-round home games in the playoffs.
