The Drover baseball team scored nine runs off five homers on Friday afternoon in Plainview, Texas, for USAO’s final Sooner Athletic Conference game but ended up falling 20-11 in nine innings to Oklahoma City.
USAO scored its first three runs in the third inning when Conner Bridgman homered to left field, bringing both Robert Summers and Nolan Crowdus home as well.
Two innings later, Andrew Reyes hit a solo homer before Bridgman’s brother, Cody Bridgman, hit a three-RBI home run himself, scoring Conner Bridgman and Vince Linke.
Chance Hill hit a fourth USAO homer in the sixth inning to tack on another run for the Drovers. Conner Bridgman opened the next inning with his second home run of the game and eighth of the season.
Also scoring on Friday for the Drovers was Brandon Jewett.
Conner Bridgman went 2-for-4, scoring three runs and batting four runners in. Cody Bridgman went 2-for-5, scoring two runs and batting three runners in.
Despite the home runs, USAO couldn’t overcome the 20 runs put up by the Stars.
The tournament was organized as a round-robin pool play. Rogers State and Oklahoma Baptist competed for the SAC Championship on Saturday afternoon and RSU came up with the title.
The Drovers end the season 26-25 overall.
