After a runner-up finish at the weekend's Avila Tournament, eighth-ranked University of Science and Arts dropped a home series to No. 3 Oklahoma City Tuesday at Bill Smith Ballpark.
Things flood gates opened late for the Drovers in Game One as the team gave up 13 runs in the final three innings to fall 15-1. In Game Two, USAO gave up nine runs in the first two innings and never could recover losing 9-0. On the day, OCU cashed in on nine errors and 15 unearned runs.
USAO fell to 21-8 overall and 4-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The team will hit the road for the next three league games beginning at 2 p.m.
Thursday at Oklahoma Baptist. The Drovers' next home series will be April 11 against St. Gregory's.
Over the weekend, USAO reeled off six straight wins to reach the finals of the Avila Tournament in Blue Springs, Mo.
The Drovers beat Graceland 8-1, Friends 3-2, Benedictine 3-2, Bethany 8-0, Illinois-Springfield 5-0 and McKendree 2-0 before losing in the finals to St. Gregory's 4-1.
