Jaedyn Brown-Adams looks to make a play at the net during Tuesday's home match against Temple High School.

The Chickasha volleyball team put together a strong start against Temple on Tuesday.

Competing in Chickasha, the Lady Chicks won the first set before losing 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 20-25, 14-25) to the Temple Lady Tigers.

A pair of 5-0 scoring runs put the Lady Chicks in control of the first set. Chickasha scored the first five points of the set and got strong serving from Jackie Funderburk to start the match.

Up 5-2, the Lady Chicks scored five points in a row to go up by eight and led 12-3 through the first 15 points.

The Lady Tigers managed to rally and trailed by just one point before Chickasha was able to close out the set. Kiry Jones finished the set for Chickasha to give the Lady Chicks a 1-0 lead.

But Temple was able to build on the momentum that it gained toward the end of the first set. At the beginning of the second set, it was Temple’s turn to start with a 5-0 scoring run.

The Lady Chicks tried to hang around in the set but could not put together a long scoring run.

With the help of Jaedyn Brown-Adams' serve, Chickasha did score three points in a row and trailed by just four points. Temple was able to hold off the Lady Chicks to even the match.

The Lady Chicks stayed close in the third set and held a lead early on. They scored four of the first five points to hold a 4-1 lead, but Temple quickly took a brief 5-4 lead with four points in a row.

Late in the set, Chickasha only trailed by two at 21-19. Temple scored four of the final five points to take the 2-1 lead.

A long scoring run put Temple in control of the fourth set. The two teams were tied 5-5 when the Lady Tigers went on their scoring run to go up by double digits and take control of the final set.
