Despite not losing a set, the Chickasha volleyball team's win over Star Spencer did not come easy.

The Lady Chicks had to withstand rallies and put rallies together in their 3-0 victory over Star Spencer on Thursday in Chickasha.

Chickasha captured the first set 25-18 and rallied for a 26-24 win in the second set after having a 13-7 lead. Chickasha stepped up again in the third set, coming up with a 25-22 win to clinch the sweep of the Lady Bobcats.

Strong play from Jordan Wallace helped give Chickasha a 7-6 lead in the first set of the match. Struggling to gain separation, the two teams were tied 10-10 through the first 20 points.

Jaedyn Brown-Adams’ presence on the court helped keep Star Spencer from getting too much separation after building a 13-10 lead. The Lady Chicks took that deficit and eventually went up by four with a 7-0 scoring run.

Up 22-18, the Lady Chicks closed out the set by scoring the final three points.

The second set had its fair share of comebacks.

With the help of a scoring run, the Lady Chicks built a 13-7 lead. But the Lady Bobcats were not finished and gradually worked their way back.

Star Spencer managed to grab a 21-19 lead despite trailing by six earlier in the set. But it was then Chickasha’s turn to come back.

Nearing the end of the set, the Lady Chicks stepped up as Star Spencer struggled on serve. Tied at 24, Chickasha scored the final two points to take a commanding 2-0 lead over its opponent.

Chickasha was able to build separation once again in the third set after trailing early. Star Spencer tried to rally again, but Chickasha held on and did not let the Lady Bobcats get in front.

Chickasha had a 15-10 lead through 25 points and had that lead trimmed to just two points. Chickasha then answered with a 4-0 scoring run to go up by six.

The Lady Bobcats did get back to within two points again, but Chickasha stood tall and secured the win.
