Facing Class 4A No. 8 Weatherford, the Chickasha Lady Chicks entered Tuesday’s game looking to take down the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Chicks stayed close early but ended up falling 69-22 in Chickasha. The Lady Eagles remained unbeaten this season with the victory.
Chickasha held a 3-2 lead in the first quarter after Lexi Albright scored all three of her points off of a triple. DeMyra Foster’s only basket of the game gave the Lady Chicks a 5-4 lead.
Down 5-4, Weatherford went on a 7-0 scoring run and never trailed again after taking the lead. Chickasha's leading scorer — Brittney Grissam — ended the streak of unanswered points. Grissam had six points in the loss.
Weatherford answered Grissam’s basket with another streak of unanswered points to go up by double digits. With Chickasha trailing by double digits, Gracie Weber scored all four of her points to get the team’s deficit back to single digits.
Weatherford ended up going to the second quarter with a 22-11 lead.
The Lady Eagles ended up taking complete command of the game in the second quarter. They scored the first 15 points of the second quarter to go up by 26 and outscored Chickasha 17-2 in the period to go to the second half with a 39-13 advantage.
Grissam scored Chickasha’s only two points in the second quarter.
As Weatherford continued to extend its lead in the third quarter, Leighanne Eaton stepped up on offense for the Lady Chicks. She scored all five of her points in the third quarter and scored five of the team’s seven points.
The other two points in the third quarter came from Grissam. Those points completed Grissam's scoring in the game.
Chickasha trailed 53-20 heading to the fourth quarter. The team's only two points in the fourth quarter came from Chloee Steelman and her only basket of the game.
Chickasha will be back at home Saturday against Clinton.
