BETHANY — The Chickasha Lady Chicks hung around throughout their game against Bethany but came up just short in the end.
Chickasha never stopped fighting in its loss at Bethany on Saturday and never let the Bethany Lady Bronchos run away for a blowout victory. Bethany went to the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run and ended up with a 52-41 victory over the Lady Chicks.
Chickasha’s DeMyra Foster and Lexi Albright combined to score the game’s first four points before Bethany went on a 5-0 scoring run to take its first lead of the game. Bethany took an 11-6 lead in the first quarter before Albright buried the first of her three triples in the game.
Chickasha trailed 13-12 after one quarter.
The Lady Bronchos scored the first five points of the second quarter to take an 18-12 lead, but the Lady Chicks continued to keep the game close. Albright hit her second triple as part of a 5-0 run to get the Lady Chicks back within a point of their opponent. Bethany then went on another run to go up 27-17.
The Lady Chicks finished the half on a 4-0 run.
Chickasha’s Kailey McCarty ended Bethany’s scoring run and was followed by a pair of Albright free throws to make the score 27-21. Albright scored 12 of her 17 points in the first half.
Chickasha’s Leighanne Eaton took charge on offense in the third quarter, scoring the team’s first seven points. Eleven of her 13 points came in the second half.
With the help of Eaton and Chloee Steelman, Chickasha was able to turn a 10-point deficit to just six in the third quarter. The Lady Bronchos were able to come up with another scoring run, scoring the next eight points to make the score 44-30 heading to the fourth quarter.
But Chickasha continued to fight, cutting its back to single digits later in the third. Four points in a row got the Lady Chicks within nine, but Bethany was able to end up with a double-digit win.
Chickasha will host Blanchard on Tuesday.
