A coach's resignation has been made official.
Board clerk Christal Bates confirmed the approval of Sheila Sanders' resignation at Tuesday's board meeting in Chickasha.
Sanders' resignation appeared on the agenda just a few weeks after Lauren Pittman helped the Lady Chick basketball team finish the season in the playoffs as an interim coach. Chickasha ended its season at the regional tournament, losing to Tecumseh.
According to director of secondary student activities Jerry Don Bray, Sanders informed the players after the team's game against Newcastle in early February that she would be stepping down and wanted to finish the season. A decision was made to finish the season with an interim coach, looking toward next season.
Sanders spent two seasons as the head coach of the Lady Chicks. She took the helm of the program when Kirk Reimers stepped down in 2017 after the season had come to an end.
The Lady Chicks have been eliminated in the regional tournament the past three seasons after making it to the area tournament in 2016.
