Ninnekah boys handed their home fans a Homecoming night present in the form of an upset win against Alex.
The Owls won, 62-60, in overtime for their eighth win of the season. Alex took an eight-point lead into halftime, and Ninnekah responded in the fourth quarter to force the extra period.
Aaron Buckmaster led the Owls with 16 points. Four Ninnekah players ended the game in double-digits, with Clayton Grayson scoring 11 off of the bench.
Dalton Wenzel and Brendan McMillian each scored 10 points. Wenzel led the team with eight rebounds.
Alex's Landon Rayburn led the floor with 22 points, but he was one of three Longhorns to foul out. Fellow starter Koda Jackson, who had seven points, and substitute Nik Venable also picked up five fouls.
Kyler Thornburg, who scored 11 points for Alex, finished with four fouls.
Overall, Alex was called for nine more fouls than Ninnekah during the game.
Alex entered halftime with a 30-22 lead against the Owls, and the teams played out an even third quarter from there. Only in the final frame did Ninnekah string an offensive run together to even things before the final buzzer.
The Owls won the overtime period, 14-12.
As a result, Ninnekah doubled-up on Alex, since the Lady Owls won earlier that night, 57-47.
Tia Jolley led Ninnekah with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Lexi Bowen sank 14 points.
Bowen went 4-for-7 from three-point range.
After taking a slight lead out of the first quarter, Ninnekah pulled away to lead by 10 at halftime. The Lady Longhorns mounted a brief comeback in the third quarter.
They were led by Hailey Morris' game-high 19 points before she fouled-out. Cerissa Jones scored 11 points, while Cristen Alcorn led Alex with 10 rebounds.
