For the second time this season, the Amber-Pocasset softball team was able to win a tournament.
The Lady Panthers won the 38th edition of the Southwest Shootout, hosted by Sterling High School. Am-Po also won Ninnekah’s tournament earlier this season.
Am-Po went 5-0 at the Southwest Shootout last week, and three of its victories were shutouts.
By going undefeated at the tournament, Am-Po was able to extend its win streak. The Lady Panthers exited the tournament as winners of 17 games in a row and moved to 23-1 on the season.
Am-Po opened the tournament with a shutout victory over Lawton Eisenhower. The Lady Panthers picked up a 10-0 victory.
Their final four wins of the tournament came against teams ranked in the top five of their respective classes.
Am-Po’s second win of the tournament came against Duke, a highly-ranked team in Class B. The Lady Panthers remained undefeated in the tournament with a 3-1 victory.
Meeting for the second tournament in a row, Am-Po took on Cyril in its next game. Am-Po defeated Cyril at Ninnekah’s tournament and came away with a 6-2 victory to move on without a loss in the tournament last week.
The Lady Panthers outscored their opponents 15-0 in their final two games of the tournament.
Am-Po’s next game was a rematch of the 2018 Class A state title game. Am-Po defeated Ripley in the title game last season and defeated Ripley 7-0 last week to get within one victory of the tournament championship.
Am-Po and Cyril met once again in the tournament. The Lady Panthers took home the title with an 8-0 victory.
