Am-Po's Gehrig Tointigh stands on second base in the Panthers' win over Dibble earlier this season.

The Amber-Pocasset baseball team is heading to regional play.

The Panthers hosted district action in Amber Thursday and Friday and faced another team from the area. The Panthers and Minco Bulldogs split the first two games and had to play a third game to decide the district champion.

The Panthers had to rally after dropping the first game on Thursday. Minco took a 1-0 lead in the series with an 11-7 victory.

One loss away from elimination, the Panthers came up with the win that they needed to earn an if-necessary game. Am-Po defeated Minco 13-8 to force Friday’s game and advanced to regional play with an 8-6 victory over the Bulldogs.

By advancing to the regional tournament, Am-Po added to its streak of district championships.

The Panthers are looking to advance to the state tournament for the third spring in a row. Am-Po has advanced to the state semifinals the past two seasons, defeating Fort Cobb-Broxton each of those years.
