An El Reno woman died at 4:46 p.m. Thursday while walking on the railroad tracks in Pocasset.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Russell Boswell reports that Mildred E. Welchel, 72, was walking southbound on the railroad tracks about 1/10th of a mile east of US 81 and approximately 15 feet north of 5th Street in the city limits of Pocasset in Grady County when a Union Pacific train traveling southbound struck her.
Welchel died at the scene from massive injuries, Boswell states.
