Have you ever wanted to help children learn and succeed? Are you looking for a flexible working schedule and a chance to make a difference? Substitute teaching is a wonderful career for those individuals interested in working with Chickasha School District students. We are recruiting individuals who enjoy working with children from varied backgrounds and academic abilities and who believe in the philosophy of “Excellence in Education”.

There are occasions when teachers must be absent. However, their work must go on without interruption. Therefore, when they are unable to serve, substitutes must step in and make valuable contributions. Substitutes are a vital part of our total education program. The ideal candidate for Substitute Teaching possesses a positive attitude, an overabundance of patience, and excellent verbal communications skills. He/she must also be an energetic hard worker, dedicated to the intellectual growth and development of children, who sincerely exhibits warmth and caring without exception.

Substituting is a great job for: homemakers who want to work when their children are in school—and need flexible schedules for when they are not; retirees who want to remain active in their communities; college students taking evening courses or who are home on break. Substitute teachers can customize their work schedules by choosing the number of days, school locations, grade levels, subject areas, and types of schools. Substitute teachers can be available for as many or as few assignments as they want. Unlike most other jobs where there is an obligation to work, as a substitute teacher you have the freedom to elect when you are available to work.

Chickasha Schools will hold a Substitute Workshop on Thursday, July 31st at the Chickasha High School Activity Center. The workshop will start at 8:30a.m. To be considered for employment as a substitute, this workshop is mandatory. All applicants must have a High School Diploma and bring two forms of I.D. For more information, please call Susan at Chickasha Schools at 222-6500.
