The Verden Lady Tigers survived a close call against the Alex Lady Longhorns on Friday night.

With 10.9 seconds left, Verden was taking the ball out under the Alex basket. Hannah cut to the basket and was fouled on a layup, and made both free throws for a 36-35 lead.

Alex had to go the length of the court to shoot the final shot, a missed 3 in the right corner, ending the game.

Alex will play again at the Longhorn Classic Jan. 7, and Verden's next game is 6:30 p.m. Friday night at Sterling.

"We're going to go play at No. 9 Sterling at their place, so I just want to give it all we've got and make it a great game," head coach Ryan Perry said.

Perry said the winter break practices will have a broad focus as the team looks to improve in all areas.

"Practice is the same on day one as it is on the last day of the year," Perry said.
