Grady County will shake it to the World’s Largest Earthquake Drill on Thursday

Grady County Emergency Management Director Dale Thompson said GCEM will be one of 18 local government agencies for the 2016 Central U.S. Shakeout.

The main focus of the drill is, “Drop! Cover! Hold on!” and will take place at around 10 a.m. Thompson waid this drill takes on a minute and wants them to be aware.

“We try to encourage residents, businesses and everyone to be aware of earthquakes,” Thompson said. “So far this year there are 898,896 participants around this part of the country and we try to push this out every year especially since we have had some issues with earthquakes in the past.”

The counties in the state of Oklahoma involved are: Central Oklahoma emergency Management Association, City of Okmulgee, City of Ponca City, City of Stillwater, Grady County Emergency Management, Woodward County, Oklahoma Office of Emergency Management, Kay County Health Department, Major County Courthouse, Oklahoma City-County Health Department, Oklahoma State Department of Health, Osage county Emergency Management, Payne County Health Department, and Wilburton/Latimer County Emergency Management.
