Two men on motorcycles were injured after one struck a pothole near Rush Springs.
Lane Berten, 23, of Ninnekah was traveling eastbound on County Road 1550, south of Rush Springs on Saturday afternoon. He was followed by Mason Freeman, 23, of Chickasha.
Berten struck a pothole in the roadway, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. Berten was struck by Freeman's motorcycle and Berten's motorcycle ran into a ditch. Freeman lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in the roadway, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Berten was transported by AirEvac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma city where he was admitted in serious condition. Freeman was transported by Rush Springs EMS to Duncan Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.
Neither cyclist was wearing a helmet. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol listed unsafe speed for the type of roadway as the cause of the collision.
