Chickasha City Council Member, Tom Rose, will be the guest speaker at the annual Veterans Day Program on Nov. 11.
A Retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel, Rose is a Chickasha native and Chickasha High School graduate. He served two tours in Vietnam and received two Bronze Stars and two Legion of Merit Commendations, Sherri K. Lewis, Oklahoma Veterans Recognition Committee, said in a media release.
Also at the ceremony, members of the DAV and VFW will present and retire the colors. The Chickasha High School Choir will perform the National Anthem. Father Mike Wheelahan of the Holy Name Catholic Church will present the prayer. Mercedes Hill and Mikylah Whitehead from the Chickasha High School Band will perform “Taps” upon the retirement of our flag, Lewis said.
"We asked that all of our citizens take the time to come to this program and officially show your respect and thanks to our veterans," Lewis said. "If you are not able to attend, please step forward and shake a veterans hand and tell them thank you for serving our country and for their contribution in keeping American fee."
The event will be held at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day at the Chickasha Elks Lodge. The event is to be held indoors due to possible inclement weather, Lewis said.
The Chickasha Elks Lodge is located at 1818 W. Country Club Rd.
