PEO members celebrated their sesquicentennial (150 years) founders day in the banquet room of the First Christian Church on Jan. 22. The annual luncheon for the four Chickasha chapters was hosted by chapter DV. Chapter CR presented a style show to honor the seven founders. Dress was provided by the Grady County Historical Society as well as period hairstyles from Hairy's Salon. PEO’s focus has been the advancement and education of women since it’s founding on January 21, 1869. The international organization has funded more than a half billion dollars in grants, loans, awards, and scholarships. The local members award five to seven $500-$600 yearly scholarships to Grady County students. They also nominate someone for the national Star Scholarship which is $2,500.
