The Northern District Fair will be taking place this weekend, Aug. 16-17, in Amber at Amber-Pocasset Public Schools.
Entry deadlines are Friday and Saturday morning. Open Division and 4H entries are due 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Aug. 16. Crop entries are due at 10 a.m. on Friday. These entries must be turned in at the Ag Building.
Swine weights must be turned in by 8 p.m. on Friday. All other livestock must be entered by 9 a.m. on Saturday. Cake entries are due between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Events and judging for open division entries will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday. Crops will be judged at 1 p.m. Fair Princess interviews will begin at 5 p.m. The Fair Princess Talent Show will begin at 7 p.m.
The Junior Horse Show will take place at the Janssen Arena at 6:30 p.m. The arena is located two miles south of the Amber blacktop at 1801 County Street 2840.
Events on Saturday will begin at 9 a.m. with livestock shows, order as follows: swine, goats, sheep, dairy and beef. Rabbit and poultry shows will take place at 10 a.m. The pet show and turtle race will take place at 1 p.m. A corn hole tournament will take place following the pet show and turtle race. Cake judging will begin at 2 p.m.
On Saturday evening at 7 p.m., a trophy presentation will be held in the auditorium. At 7:30 p.m., the cake auction will begin. The evening will end with the crowning of the Northern District Fair Princess after the cake auction.
