Grady County is one of 14 counties the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality has added to its list for free private well testing after the recent storms.
The free testing is available until May 31, 2019.
The Oklahoma DEQ is offering free bacteriological testing of private water wells that have been submerged in flood water, according to a release.
The DEQ recommends not drinking water from these wells until the well has been disinfected and a sample analysis indicates the well water is safe.
For disinfection and sampling instructions and supplies, contact DEQ at 1-800-522-0206.
Instructions on how to disinfect your well are available at www.deq.state.ok.us/factsheets/SELS/DisinfectIndividualWaterWells_01-2018.pdf.
