A fatality collision in Caddo County claiming the life of a Stephens County resident remains under investigation, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 on I-44 at mile marker 66, which is four miles east of Cyril in Caddo County.
The first vehicle was identified as a 2015 Chevrolet driven by Rigoberto Varela (SIC), 68, of Duncan. He was transported by Apache EMS to Grady Memorial and then later transported to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. A condition for the driver was not listed.
His first passenger, identified as Gloria Varela, 69, of Duncan, was pronounced at the scene by Medical Examiner Ron Jackson while the second passenger, a three year old of Duncan, was transported by Apache EMS to Grady Memorial and then later transported to Children's OU Medical.
The second car was a 2017 Honda driven by Samuel Banks, 65, of Cache, who had no injuries though his passenger, Claire Banks, 58 of Cache, was transported by Chickasha EMS to Comanche Memorial Hospital where she was admitted in good condition with arm injuries.
What happened remains under investigation, according to OHP.
OHP received assistance from Chickasha Fire Department, Cyril Fire Department, Apache EMS, Chickasha EMS, Kirks and the Medical Examiner's Office.
