One of Grady County's blue ribbon events, the 104th Grady County Free Fair will take place Aug. 22-24.
The best of the county will be on display in the form of livestock, vegetation, artwork, quilting, photography, even a pet show.
Several entries will be due at the first of the week. Entries for the agronomy contest and home gardening contest are due Tuesday, Aug. 20 between 3 and 5:30 p.m. Best of show will win $100, with 4H and open class combined.
The Grady County Fair has something sweet planned for Wednesday, Aug. 22. The Cake Show and Auction will take entries from noon to 2:30 p.m. The cakes will be judged between 3 and 5 p.m. The Cake Auction will begin at 7:10 p.m. There will be adult and junior divisions in the following categories: light butter, dark butter (chocolate), German chocolate, angel food, Italian cream, miscellaneous and creative class.
Pets can get in on the fun too. OHCE Rural Neighbors will host a Pet Show for kids on Saturday, Aug. 24. Two age groups, 8-years-old and under and 9-years-old to 14 years-old will compete for ugliest pet, best costume, best personality, most unique and look-a-likes. Registration will begin on the day of the contest at 3:30 p.m. and the show will start at 4:30 p.m. Every pet must be on a leash. Every pet must be on a leash.
Registration for the Kid's Pedal Tractor Pull will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. There will be divisions for each age, 4-years-old through 12-years-old. Contestants will pull in order of registration. All tractors will be furnished. The contestant who pulls the longest distance wins. The tractor pull will begin at 6 p.m.
