Chickasha Public Schools schedules holidays, meetings

Chickasha students returned to school after summer break last week, but holidays and days off school are coming up in the next months. In this photo, a group of Chickasha Middle School students work on a STEM class project.

Chickasha students went back to school last week but the next day off school isn't far away.

Chickasha Public Schools has listed Labor Day, Sept. 2 as a school holiday. Later that month, a parent-teacher conference will give kids another break from class Sept. 27, followed a few days later by teacher meetings on Sept. 30, meaning no school for students that day. After that, students will need to hold off until Oct. 17 and 18 for Fall Break.

Veterans Day will take place Nov. 11, giving students another break from classes to honor veterans.

Later that month, students will have the opportunity to spend time with family and friends during the Thanksgiving holiday from Nov. 25 to 29.

In December, students will have two weeks off for Winter Break between Dec. 23 and Jan. 6. Classes will resume on Jan. 7.

The first holiday of 2020 will celebrate Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. on Jan. 20. About a month later, school will be out again for parent-teacher conferences on Feb. 21.

In March, students will get a full week off from school from March 16 to 30 for Spring Break. Several weeks later, students will start Easter weekend early with no school on April 10.

The next scheduled days off depend on how many snow days are taken during the winter. Tentatively, make up snow days are May 1 and May 8, both Fridays.

The last day of classes for the 2019-2020 school year is May 15.
