Chickasha Public Schools recently announced changes to the 2019-2020 school year.
'We have added extra time for our teachers to receive professional development and work together on preparing instruction for your child. Each quarter we will have an early release day for students," a release from the school said.
The district has penciled in four early release days, all on Wednesdays: Oct. 9, Dec. 4, Feb. 26 and April 15.
On these days, Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center and Grand Elementary will be released at 12:30 p.m. Lincoln Elementary, Chickasha Middle School and Chickasha High School will be released at 11:45 p.m.
All sites will still serve breakfast and lunch on these days. Moreover, Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center and Grand Day Care will provide services beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the early release days. This applies to students who regularly attend the daycare. Caretakers who are interested in having their child attend one of these daycares are asked to call the building's office staff.
High School athletic practices will still begin at 3 p.m. on these days.
There will also be some changes to the previously designated snow days.
"In addition, we have replaced May 1 and May 8as regular school days instead of snow days to ensure students receive the same quality instruction as originally scheduled. This decision was made collectively with the administration, teachers, professional development committee, and our board," the release said.
