The Chickasha Public Library’s StoryWalk kick-off event will be from 10 a.m. to noon on June 1 along the Centennial Park walking path. In addition to the story, there will also be activities for children. The StoryWalk is a permanent fixture at the park, with books changing periodically. The StoryWalk idea originated at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library as a way fun way to get families outdoors and reading. The first book on display will be The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The first story will be on display throughout June and a new one will be displayed in July. Visitors to the park are encouraged read the book, then visit the Chickasha Public Library, located at 527 W Iowa Ave., to fill out a short survey about your experience. Children who participate in the StoryWalk will receive a free picture book. This project is funded in part through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries with a federal grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Funds for the books were provided by local organizations, AAUW, Altrusa, Lions Club, and PEO Chapter FV.
