A Chickasha man died on Thursday morning after his vehicle hit a tree.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Ramos Frances, 76, of Chickasha, was was northbound on US81, traveling at an unsafe speed for the road conditions.
OHP reported it was snowing and there was snow and/or ice on the roadway at the time of the accident.
Francis' vehicle departed the roadway for about 80 feet before striking a tree. He was transported by Chickasha EMS to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died due to massive injuries sustained in the collision, the report said.
The site of the collision was initially reported to have taken place near Amber/Pocasset. This has been clarified as 5.8 miles south of Minco.
