Chickasha native and educator, Dr. R. P. Ashanti-Alexander, Principal of Lincoln Elementary School, has received a Certificate of Completion from Harvard University’s School of Management and Leadership (CSML). The on-line course was designed to provide Pre-K-12 grade school leaders at all stages of their careers with the framework, skills, strategies and knowledge to lead instructional and academic change in schools that will create high-performing academic schools.
The CSML- Certificate Program is a collaboration between the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and Harvard Business School (HBS). The program integrated distinctive capabilities from both schools, combining expertise in managing teams and organizations with a commitment to school and instructional leadership. Other areas of study were Leading Change, Adaptive Leadership Framework, Application of Adaptive Leadership, and School Culture and Equity.
Dr. Ashanti-Alexander has been a public school educator for forty-three years. He obtained his undergrad degree and Master’s Degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma; a Master’s of Science Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Nebraska in Omaha; and an Educational Doctorate Degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Ashanti-Alexander also serves as President of the Chickasha Branch NAACP, Pastor of Miles-Brown Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Chickasha City Council Member representing Ward 3, in addition to being a member of the Chickasha Optimist Club. He is the husband of Rosalind Parrish Ashanti-Alexander, the father of six children and the grandfather of eleven grandchildren.
