Ms. Susan Beth Wilhelm will be teaching the classes. She is a native of the Tidewater Virginia area and grew up on the Chesapeake Bay where she studied Mechanical Engineering, Design and the Fine Arts. She worked in Naval Shipyards onboard ships and in Industrial Commercial buildings and then relocated to Birmingham, Alabama to continue her career in the engineering field. In 2009 she moved to Oklahoma and began working in the civil engineering field as a Project Manager/Inspector for various programs and projects.
Her artwork has always been a constant part of her life. Painting and drawing with her father from a very young age and taking classes from numerous accomplished artists have molded her particular style. She has studied under regionally acclaimed artists in Virginia, Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida and has her artwork exhibited in galleries in all of those states.
Beth conducts classes, workshops, lectures, and demonstrations at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum and at other locations in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
She has taught formal drawing and painting to adults, collegiate, high school and elementary age students and enjoys sharing the excitement of her students’ creations.
Her admiration for the coast, nature and wildlife is the inspiration for most of her paintings. The expression of vivid color is demonstrated throughout her paintings in watercolor and watercolor batiks. Now living in Oklahoma, her work reflects the richness of the southwest heritage.
Ms. Wilhelm is a professional artist, a member of the American Watercolor Society and has received various awards in recognition of her work. She enjoys drawing, painting and sharing God’s gift with people she meets through her artwork, which can be found on her website at sbwatercolors.net and Etsy at BethWilhelmArt. She has art exhibits at the Garden Diva and Hummingbird Gallery in Tulsa and in Shawnee at The St. Anthony Hospital New Addition and The Mabee-Gerrer Museum.
Her artwork will be featured in an exhibit at the 7th Street Art Connection in November and December 2019.
