A Blanchard man died in a multi-vehicle wreck on I-40 on Saturday.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that Robert Hicks, of Blanchard, was driving his pickup on the eastbound lane of I-40 near mile marker 77, west of Weatherford.
His pickup struck an eastbound jeep driven by Terrill Sarter, 75, of Sayre, Oklahoma. Hicks' pickup departed the interstate to the right and struck cables before coming to rest on the median.
Sarter's jeep was then hit by a semi. The semi-truck driver was able to come to a controlled stop on the shoulder.
Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained during the collision. Sarter was admitted in OU Medical Center in critical condition with head, internal and external trunk injuries.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
