The Chickasha City Council held a special meeting yesterday to discuss the budget, with a focus on water infrastructure improvement. Read more in tomorrow's issue of The Express-Star.

The Chickasha Board of Education meeting on June 9 covered a variety of topics including filing Board Seat 5, Beth Edward's retiring, Chickasha sites receiving Great Expectation school status as well as Superintendent David Cash's report of recent house bills including Mary Fallin repealing Common Core. Chickasha's defensive coordinator Jerry Don Bray has been promoted to the head coach position ahead of the fall football season. Bray, also a former player at Chickasha, takes over from Tom Cobble, who resigned at the end of May.

Another head coaching appointment was made, this time for boys basketball. Wes Pulliam, former Newcastle coach, will take over from Nathan Pennypacker for the 2014-15 Fightin' Chicks season.
