Local teams vie for Panther Classic


Amber-Pocasset, Verden and Rush Springs represent the local talent competing in the Panther Baseball Classic starting today.

Things start at 12:30 p.m. when Roff takes on Hinton, followed by the Redskins as they look to progress to the semifinals over Cordell. Following Lindsay and Lookeba-Sickles, the hosts with take on Verden at 7:15 p.m. for the last semifinal spot.

A Rush Springs win will see them play at 5 p.m. on Friday, while a loss will push the start time back to 12:30 p.m. when the afternoon consolation bracket games start. Am-Po or Verden will play at either 2:45 p.m. or 7:15 p.m. Friday depending on the result of their first round encounter.

The consolation final starts things off on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The losing teams from Friday's semifinals will play for third at 2 p.m. that day ahead of the final at 4:30 p.m.
