Archers abound at state meet

Chickasha Archery was on target at the Oklahoma National Archery in the Schools Program shootout in Oklahoma City.

Chickasha broke and set the record high just as they have done for the past three years.

"The kids shot very well," Pete Bush, Chickasha Archery coach said.

Winning the state championship was a primary goal for the high school team, Bush said.

"I'm extremely pleased," Bush said. "We've got a great bunch of kids who worked extremely hard."

Bush said the Chickasha Archery program is possible because of local businesses and parental participation. It costs about $7,000 for the team to travel to regionals and the Oklahoma National Archery in the Schools Program shootout. Because of funds from local businesses and parents, no one on the team has to pay anything.

Chickasha Archery will be competing against top archery teams from Texas in Oklahoma in the RR Shootout in Sherman, Texas on April 26.

In the shootout, Chickasha archers placed as follows: Bailey Williams, 4th High School Female, Riane Tuthill, 2nd Chickasha Middle School Female, Brittany Alexander, 4th Chickasha Middle School Female, Jhoan Ferolina, 1st Elementary Male, Joseph Shaw, 2nd Elementary Male, Derek Sullivan, 4th High School Male, Brooks Bush, 5th High School Male and Jimmy Parham 3rd Middle School Male.
