Chicks top El Reno, will play for fifth Saturday

CHICKASHA — Chickasha won their final Washita Valley Classic pool game against El Reno, run-ruling their opponent 12-4 Friday night.

The game started evenly for both teams, with El Reno sustaining the narrow led through the top of the third inning by one run. Chickasha answered back, though, with five runs in the bottom half to take a lead they would never relinquish.

Outfielder Cade Morris batted in designated hitter Brayden Belden and first baseman Jake Womack with a double to deep center. Second baseman Luke Dixon also had an RBI and managed to get to home plate in the third, while short stop Derek Sullivan also scored in the third hitting on both of his at bats.

Sullivan hit again in the fourth inning to eventually make it home. Sullivan finished the game getting to a base at all four bats, hitting 3-for-3 with one walk.

Despite early success, El Reno’s pitching started to fall apart. Seven Chickasha batters were walked in five innings while throwing errors at first and second further plagued their ability to keep up. After third baseman Brock Henderson batted in Belden, the mistakes finally caught up with El Reno

With the bases loaded, catcher Tresjon Davis was hit with a wild pitch for the second time on the night and relief pitcher Mario Medina walked in for the game winning run.

Chickasha will play for the fifth place spot Saturday at 11 a.m.
